Need Gum Gone? Chewing gum removal is a very sticky business, whether it’s stuck on your concrete, parking lot or on the side of a building, chewing gum eventually transforms into a black smudge on your concrete. But before that happens, pedestrians and clientele walking into a business will walk on the gum and get it in all over your carpets, rugs and mats. Then it’s embedded deep into the carpet and into the porous surface of concrete or asphalt, just waiting for someone to step in it again, to carry it somewhere else in your building.
We are happy to offer gum removal as one of our commercial pressure washing services in Whittier CA. Find information about our process below:
The best methods of removing chewing gum from concrete depends on how long the gum has been stuck there and the level of penetration into the concrete surface. If the gum was left not long ago and it hasn’t penetrated the surface yet, we are sometimes able to remove it by covering it with ice until it freezes, then scraping the gum off with a putty knife.
The ice forces the chewing gum to freeze into a more forgiving consistency compared to a warm and sticky glob. Once that happens, we slide a putty knife or scraper directly under the gum residue. Then we slide the scraper slowly beneath the gum and the entire piece should peel right off the concrete.
The above process is only possible with gum that is brand new.
When we remove chewing gum that is already black, or is already smashed deep down into the concrete surface, we use a hot water power washer with the heat dialed up to 200 Degrees in order to melt the chewing gum. For this type of gum removal service, we won’t use very high pressure because that will sometimes harm the surface of the concrete!
Our team never uses more pressure than necessary to clean commercial concrete surfaces. These surfaces can be damaged much easier than most people think, especially if they’re only a couple of years old. Concrete can take up to 100 years to cure completely. That is why we always use hot water and the least amount of pressure possible for our gum removal service.
To remove gum from sidewalks and other commercial surfaces we use custom designed hot water pressure washing tools and professional-grade soaps that enable us to clean the concrete without resulting in any damages.
Using special 200 degree hot water power washers and low pressure, we safely remove chewing gum and surface dirt while protecting the surface. Our method will also eliminate bacteria and germs that are found in gum on concrete.
By hiring Whittier Pressure Washing for regular maintenance commercial cleaning at your location, your property will have a better appearance and your chewing gum removal problems will be over! You will also ensure less damage to carpets and flooring while also making your storefront more appealing to customers.
